Geothermal and Blue Jeans: An Environmentally Responsible Combination
Did you know that the foil-backed insulation that you see inside GeoComfort geothermal heat pumps is not the typical fiberglass insulation like their competitors? In fact, it’s natural fiber insulation, made of recycled blue jean material. The material is environmentally friendly unlike fiberglass, which is a man-made material, classified as a possible carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the National Toxicology Program (NTP).
GeoComfort's natural insulation meets all of the safety and flammability requirements set forth by ASTM and NFPA. Plus, it’s fungi resistant, has no objectionable odor, and has good insulation and acoustical values (better than fiberglass). It’s unusual to find an insulation that meets all of the safety requirements that is also environmentally friendly. You can feel good about installing GeoComfort geothermal systems, knowing you will not be exposed to fiberglass insulation.
